Alas, we single girls eat alone many a night. If, heaven forbid, you choke on your food and need to have the Heimlich maneuver performed, you can help yourself! Here are a couple of ways you might want to remember: 1) Lean over the back of a chair and press forcefully to pop out the food. 2) Do abdominal thrusts on yourself: a) Make a fist with one hand. Place the thumb side of your fist against your abdomen, just below your navel. b) Grasp your fist with the other hand. Give a quick upward thrust into your abdomen. This may cause the food to pop out. c) Repeat thrusts until the food pops out. Be prepared for the uneventful and unexpected!
